So, Christmas 2016, my immediate family travelled to Jamaica 🇯🇲 My parents, sister, Mya-Louise, three brothers, Tariq, Josiah and Jeremiah-James and my maternal grandparents had such an amazing time that we just had to go again.
Not only did we decide to go again but we invited more people to enjoy with us! We were waiting and looking forward to this trip for at least a year and a half before it happened! 📆
The time finally came! 20 of us spent 9 hours on a TUI plane waaaaaiting to get to Montego Bay, JA ! There was my mum, dad, sister, 3 brothers, Abbie, my best-friend, my grandparents, my Uncle, his partner, their 3 boys, my Aunt, my two cousins and my cousin’s toddler. Then we met up with my Aunt, my 3 cousins and my cousin’s toddler. Serious family affair, word to Mary J.
When I tell you, that moment we stepped outside of the airport, I could just smell and feel the enjoyment in the air. We took the TUI bus to the Ocho Rios Riu Resort. After a long day of travelling, had dinner and went to bed in anticipation of a fantastic 2 week vacation ☀️
Whilst out there, we eventually linked up with the rest of our peoples! There were 30 of us altogether. 30! And that’s not including the 10 that we bumped into. What a partyyy!
Speaking of party. We had a party on a boat, on the beach & in the pool 💦 It was unreal. We had such a wicked time. You’d think partying with your family would be weird. Not. At. All.
The hotel was cool. The overall decor was very “meh” and “bleh” but what they had to offer definitely was not that! Food 🍽= 8/10! Drinks🍹= 9/10! Entertainment 🎶💃🏾= 10/10!! The hotel’s entertainers really go out of their way to ensure that guests have the best time on their holiday. The fooood! I just think it’s bloody amazing that if you get hungry at any point in the day, there was always somewhere in the hotel that had food! And the drinkssss, let’s just say that I was not shy from visiting the bar umpteen times in the day 😁 The overall vibe was top notch and I could have personally stayed for another week, but that’s just me.
We did so many cool things like jumping off Rick’s Cafe cliff; which was absolutely breath-taking… whew. We took a huge trip to Dunns River Falls! 🌊 And even visited the family mansion in Manchester. Where we linked up with aunts and uncles, who, by the way cooked us the freshest curry goat; so fresh the goat was slaughtered hours before it was cooked! Very strange experience, but goodness that meat was ten-der. 🐐
The overall time was just amazing. To be on holiday with so many cousins, such a great idea. We got to spend time with my Uncle who moved to Finland with his partner and their 3 boys.
Both times I’ve visited JA, it’s been nothing short of bloody brilliant. The island itself just screams paradise. From the sunsets to the agriculture. It’s just a beautiful country. I will happily go back any time (but my goodness it ain’t cheap! )
One word to describe Jamaica 2018? EPIC !!!!
